Omaha Hi-Lo (also known as Omaha/8 or better) is often times seen as one of the most complex but favored poker games. It’s a game that, even more than regular Omaha poker, invites action from every level of players. This is the primary reason why a once obscure game, has grown in acceptance so amazingly.

Omaha hi low begins exactly like a regular game of Omaha. 4 cards are handed out to each player. A round of betting follows in which players can wager, check, or fold. 3 cards are dealt out, this is referred to as the flop. A further round of betting ensues. After all the gamblers have in turn called or dropped out, another card is flipped on the turn. a further round of betting ensues at which point the river card is revealed. The entrants will have to put together the best high and low 5 card hands using the board and hole cards.

This is where a number of entrants can get baffled. Contrasted to Texas Holdem, in which the board can make up every player’s hand, in Omaha hi low the player has to use exactly three cards on the board, and precisely two hole cards. The low hand is any five card hand (unpaired) with an 8 and below. The lower hand takes half of the pot, as just like the high hand. When there is no lower hand available, the higher hand wins the complete pot.

It may seem difficult at first, following a few hands you will be able to get the base nuances of the game with ease.
